June 2, 2023

Heads up, music lovers! Your beloved music icons are finally making a comeback to concert stages all over the world. No matter what your taste in music is - be it K-pop, heavy metal, pop, country, or 90’s hits, there are plenty of exciting concerts to attend this year. For the past two years, the concert event world had to cancel or pause live concert tours due to various restrictions and safety measures implemented by various governments to curb the spread of coronavirus. In 2023, restrictions have become more lenient paving the way for artists and concert event managers to bring back the in-person lively music scene that we all love.

Whether you are working in concert event management or an avid concert event goer, this post is for you. In this blog post, we will dive deep into the particulars of concert events from their statistics and reasons for growth to the biggest concert events to watch for this year.

Concert Event Statistics

Despite the looming potential recession, the concert event world is seeing a surge like never before. In 2023, the live music industry is expected to exceed $25 billion for the first time. In four years’ time, the overall live music turnover is set to grow by a 3.11% Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR), reaching a whopping $31.493 billion.

There are various driving factors behind the phenomenal growth of the concert event industry. The most evident factor for this trend is the pent-up demand for live concert events due to the pandemic. Fans have become more eager to attend concerts once again as countries start easing the COVID-19 restrictions.

Another factor to look into is the use of new technologies in concert events such as virtual and augmented reality that creates a more enjoyable and immersive show experience. Moreover, a new generation of diverse performers is making the music world more attractive to a greater audience.
